SUMMARY
Simpl Health is the first ever healthcare platform for consumers using existing Electronic Medical Records and consolidation of data.

CHALLENGE
Healthcare records are fragmented, complicated to understand and not easily accessible. There is no central hub with comprehensive patient health data. Patients dont control their records or who has access to them. When providers gather patient health data, it often takes hours wasting valuable time and money.
There also is no EMR (electronic medical record) market for both consumers and patients. This trend will result in a multi billion dollar market because it faces usability and interoperability challenges.
RESEARCH METHODS
We tapped into our network of doctors and interviewed them about the current challenges to their workflow and their usage of Electronic Medical Records. We also did extensive research with consumer facing healthcare products.

PROJECT GOALS
To solve the problems facing this market, the solution is to consolidate data. We sought out to make all of that data easy to understand and to use while allowing greater visibility about insurance claims, medical records and care for dignoses.

INTRODUCING THE SIMPL CONSUMER PLATFORM
Currently, consumers manage their health over a variety of platforms between their doctors and insurance and still have no idea who has access to their data. We created an easy to understand platform for the consumer that is a one-stop shop for all their healthcare data from their medical and insurance providers. We also provide a comprehensive view of how their overall health is. Simpl’s proprietary technology allows consumers to log in and give permissions just one time, and then all their medical data from their providers for all time is aggregated into the platform.

HEALTH AT A GLANCE
Two important features that we added in response to our findings with our user research were the Wellness Score and the Milestones Checklist.
The Wellness Score is based on Simpl’s proprietary algorithm which is calculated from actual medical data points as well as integration with other tools and services health data points like fitness and nutrition.
The Milestones Checklist was designed to help consumers get the most out of their health insurance benefits by keeping track of preventative care and suggesting office visits for routine procedures and tests.
HEALTH RECORD VISUALIZATION
We designed a view that allows the consumer to see trends about their health well as top health details that need the most attention. Consumers are able to view specific test results by filtering through type of artifacts, doctor and date range.

HEALTH RECORD MANAGEMENT
We sought to provide better visibility to consumers about who has access to their data. Here they can control their own data and see who has access to their data. This is also a helpful feature when patients visit a new doctor, which would allow instant access to their new doctor here rather than having to fax records.
INTRODUCING THE SIMPL PROVIDER PLATFORM
Currently, most data is still faxed which isn’t efficient or secure. Obtaining patients health records and claims data is usually done over the phone or fax. We created an efficient hub for all their patient medical data, while integrating insurance information. Simpl was created so doctors didnt have to make a change in their workflow and dont have to use new tools if they choose not to. All data that is inputted into their system or Simpl’s system is aggregated together through 3rd party medical databases like Epic and Cerner.

We carefully observed doctors workflow in an office visit. We provided tools to help speed their efficiency of managing daily patient visits. Here, providers can view patient intake forms, medical data, as well as upcoming appointments.

PATIENT RECORD MANAGEMENT
We designed a view that quickly allows the doctor to toggle through patients old labs and information and back to recording information from the current office visit. The user experience was greatly improved resulting in a 40% reduction in time spent documenting the visit.
COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE CLAIM MANAGEMENT
Insurance management was one of the most requested features from providers. They currently use a few tools to assist in their workflow, so to make their lives more efficient and easy we created a comprehensive insurance claim management tool. It is a one-stop shop for all claims submitted. Here, providers can review and track details of all their claims. They can also view and segregate the totals for all claims. We offer them a high level view of all of their claims to more accurately asses their practice performance. Simpl's proprietary technology also provides the ability to see estimated dates on all claims.

As a designer, my goal is to build products that make people's lives better. With Simpl, it is not only making providers and patients lives much better, but it also strives to further the advances of medicine by using all this data to help medical researchers find and cure diseases. Simpl's mission is to make healthcare easy, effective and accessible for consumers and providers.
